Every year almost 8 million people move house and 850.000 die in Germany. In addition many addresses become invalid due to local council reforms and streets being renamed. This means that mailings will not always be deliverable. A further important aspect is that German postal services only deliver personalised mail when the name on the letter box matches the name on the envelope. In the case of a mismatch, the mail is either returned to the sender or destroyed, so in Germany it is of upmost importance that the data is accurate.
